Department of Technical Education

Department of Technical Education (DTE) came into existence in the year 1959. DTE is located at Bangalore, Karnataka. Earlier, Department of Technical Education was under the control of the Department of Public Instruction till 1959 but with increase in number of technical institutions created the need t o form an independent Department of Technical Education. The main need was to enhance the coordination of technical education institution under one governing and monitoring body especially in the areas of maintaining standards in syllabi, examination. Department of Technical Education in Karnataka is functioning under the Ministry of Higher Education. The Department is looking after the monitoring, planning and development of all the Degree level and Technician level Institutions in the state. The primary function of DTE is planning of developing Technical Education in the state and conducting Diploma/Post diploma /Tailoring examination and award Diploma/Post Diploma/certificate to the eligible candidates.
