Netaji Subhas Open University is the premier State Open University in India. The year 1997 was the birth centenary year of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. The Chief Minister of West Bengal made an announcement at a State function that an Open University would be set up soon and dedicated to Netaji hallowed memory. The Higher Education Minister, Govt. of West Bengal spearheaded the idea after his visit to the Open University in U.K. Under his instruction was set up a ten-member steering committee headed by late Dr Bhaskar Ray Chowdhury, former Vice-Chancellor of Kolkata University. The University started Bachelors Degree Programme in Science subjects from January 2000 session.
The Post Graduate Degree Programme in Science subject(Mathematics) and Arts Subjects (History and Social Work) were started in January 2002 and January 2004 session respectively.

Netaji Subhas Open University Exam Time Table / Date Sheet

NSOU University organizes UG and PG course per year in the month of March/April. Now the regular and private candidates are going to participate in the exam, and the aspirants will not be able to take the exam before they fill up exam form. They are suggested to check the previous data of the University for the details of the start of exam form in November month. The exam board will be organized the semester exam in the academic year. Before that, the exam board of Netaji Subhas Open University will be issued the NSOU exam timetable to the candidates. The exam board will carry out the semester exam based on the exam date sheet.
