Nalanda Open University (NOU)

The Nalanda Open University is the only University in the State of Bihar meant for imparting learning exclusively through the system of distance education. The University was established in March 1987 by an ordinance, promulgated by the Government of Bihar. Later, Nalanda Open University Act, 1995 was passed by the Bihar Legislature, replacing the Ordinance, and the University came under the authority and jurisdiction of the new Act automatically. The University is named after the famous Nalanda University of Ancient India. At present, the University is functioning from its camp office at Biscomaun Bhawan, 2nd,3rd,4th and 12th Floors, Patna 800 001. The University has established at its camp office at Patna a well equipped and fully automated modern office in an area of approximately 60,000 sq. feet, which houses an examination center for about 1000 students, a state of the art Library with about 50,000 titles and a computer laboratory of about 300 IBM Pentium-4 computers, apart from administrative offices and other infrastructures. The University is recognized by the Distance Education Council (DEC), University Grants Commission, and Ministry of HRD, Government of India for imparting education through distance mode.

Students can Download their Respective Semester Exams Scheme for Master Degree Programme, Bachelor Degree Programme, Diploma & Advance Diploma Programme & Certificates Programme, the course will be held in August/ December for all Semester Exams, Exams will be held in two sessions Forenoon & Afternoon. NOU Exam Admit Card / Hall Ticket Download

Enrolled Students in Nalanda Open University Undergraduate/Postgraduate programme can download NOU Admit Card to appear in Undergraduate/ Postgraduate program exams. Nalanda Open University releases NOU Exam Hall Ticket couple of weeks before the exam dates. So, you must get your NOU Admit Card soon via online mode.

The Students who are going to appear for the annual exams advised downloading admit card before the few weeks of regular examination. Without the entry card, aspirants will not allow giving their examinations. The postulants need to have the roll number to get the hall ticket on the official main portal.

Nalanda Open University Admission 2019

• Students applying in Intermediate Program must have passed 10th standard.
• Aspirants to B.A. (Hons.), B.Sc., B.Com., BBA and BCA courses need to pass 12th (10+2) with relevant subjects.
• Aspirants to B.Ed. course need to score at least 45% marks in their Bachelor’s program and must have 2 years of teaching experience.
• Students applying in B.Lis., M.A., M.Sc., M.Com., MCA, M.Lis., PG Diploma course must have passed Bachelor’s program in the relevant field.
• Students seeking admission to MJMC course must have passed Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in any subject/ Postgraduate Diploma in JMC.
• Students applying for Ph.D. must hold a Master’s degree or M.Phil. Degree with at least 55% marks in aggregate.
• Admissions to all UG, PG and PG Diploma courses are merit-based.
• Students applying for Ph.D. must pass the entrance test organized by the University.
• Admission to Nalanda Open University is offline and the admission form can be procured from the official website/ Institute/ Official Centers of the University.

Students seeking admission in various courses at NOU Distance Education can fill their application from the official website www.nalandaopenuniversity.com on or before the last date of application. Before filling the application form, Students must ensure their eligibility.

The Prospectus, containing Admission Form (Annexure A), may be purchased from the Sale Counters of the University or from any of its Study Centres on payment of Rs. 300.00 only by Demand Draft, drawn in favour of the ‘Nalanda Open University’ payable at Patna. Sale counters of the University are located on the 3rd Floor of the Biscomaun Bhawan, Patna.
