West Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS) came into existence on 1st January, 2003. The main aim to establish WBUHS is to impart teaching and ensuring proper and systematic instruction, training and research in Modern System of Medicine, Homoeopathic System of Medicine, Ayurvedic System of Medicine, Unani System of Medicine, Nursing Education, Pharmacy Education, Dental Education, Education on Laboratory Technology, Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy and Education on other paramedical courses. The courses offered by WBUHS are MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BPT, B.Sc. (Hons.) in Nursing, M.Sc. (Nursing) and B. Pharma. It has also added Post-doctoral Certificate Course in Neuro-anaesthesia, MPT, and Master of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology.

The student is required to visit the WBUHS website for applying online. A print of the admission form that is on the website is to be taken, duly filled in and to be submitted. An examination fee of Rs. 3000/- is to be paid via the online/offline mode.
