Bihar's Health Department is set to fill 32,700 vacant positions in a massive three-month recruitment drive to boost public healthcare. Health Minister Mangal Pandey announced that this rapid hiring process across clinical, paramedical, and technical sectors will alleviate hospital pressure and elevate the quality of medical services across the state.

The Bihar Health Department has officially launched a fast-track recruitment initiative to fill 32,700 vacant posts within the next three months, marking a major milestone in improving state-wide public health infrastructure. Following his appointment, Health Minister Mangal Pandey prioritized this massive hiring drive, which encompasses clinical, paramedical, and technical roles, aimed at streamlining hospital operations and ensuring efficient, high-quality care for citizens.

Doctors and Dental Officers First

Out of the total vacancies, 1,471 medical officer positions are scheduled for appointment next month. This intake features 663 General Medical Officers and 808 Dental Officers, with both cohorts expected to be operational by December. The state government has already published official recruitment advertisements and implemented the necessary protocols to accelerate these critical hires.

Nursing and Midwifery: Large-Scale Hiring

Nursing staff recruitment represents a significant portion of this employment drive. Key figures currently released include:

  • Staff Nurse (GNM): 11,389 posts (examinations completed; postings to follow after BTSC recommendations)
  • ANM (Auxiliary Nurse Midwife): 8,938 posts (requisition sent to BTSC)
  • Tutor (Nursing): 498 posts (exam completed)

These strategic hires are designed to significantly strengthen frontline nursing capabilities in primary and secondary healthcare facilities.

Medical Education & Specialist Cadre

The recruitment process for teaching faculty and specialist medical roles is also proceeding as planned:

  • Assistant Professor: 1,711 posts (Advertisement released)
  • Senior Resident / Tutor: 1,047 posts (Advertisement released)
  • Associate Professor (Contract): 655 posts
  • Professor (Contract): 269 posts (Advertisement released)
  • 121 Doctor-Teachers in the AYUSH sector (Advertisement issued)

Technical and Allied Health Staff

Examinations for technical roles have successfully concluded, and a substantial number of appointments are nearing completion, with 12,627 technical posts recently processed. Notable figures include:

  • Pharmacist: 2,473
  • Paridhapaka: 3,326
  • Lab Technician: 2,969
  • Operation Theatre Assistant: 1,683
  • X-ray Technician: 1,232
  • ECG Technician: 242
  • Dental Workers: 702

Supporting Infrastructure

Health Minister Mangal Pandey also confirmed that the 400-bed super-specialty orthopaedic hospital at Rajvansh-Nagar, Patna, is scheduled for completion within the same three-month timeframe, highlighting the state's dual commitment to workforce expansion and modernizing medical infrastructure.
