The Bihar Cabinet has officially sanctioned the recruitment of 22,891 Anganwadi Workers and Helpers. The Bihar Anganwadi Recruitment 2026 notification, including full eligibility criteria, vacancy breakdowns, and application procedures, is expected to be released shortly.
In a significant move for grassroots development, the Bihar Cabinet has greenlit the recruitment of over 22,000 Anganwadi Workers (Sevikas) and Helpers (Sahayikas). This initiative aims to bolster child development and nutrition services across the state while providing vital employment opportunities for local women. The decision was formalized during the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, July 29. Official notification regarding the application process and specific requirements will be published in the coming days.
Following the approval of the Anganwadi Worker/Helper Selection Guidelines, 2026, the Social Welfare Department confirmed that the state will initiate a massive hiring drive for 22,891 vacancies. This recruitment drive includes 6,141 positions for Anganwadi Workers and 16,750 positions for Anganwadi Helpers.
The updated selection guidelines prioritize local representation, ensuring that women from the respective community areas are appointed to these roles. In the same session, the Bihar Cabinet also approved essential water supply infrastructure projects for Lakhisarai and Kishanganj under the AMRUT 2.0 Mission.
Highlighting the government's commitment to public welfare, the Chief Minister emphasized that these new water projects will provide safe drinking water to thousands of households. This effort aligns with the administration's broader vision of fostering a developed, self-sufficient Bihar by strengthening essential urban infrastructure.
To rejuvenate the industrial sector, the cabinet approved a proposal to establish modern cooperative sugar mills and sugarcane by-product industries at the sites of the former sugar mill complexes in Raiyam (Darbhanga) and Sakri (Madhubani), which is expected to provide a significant boost to the regional sugarcane economy.
Infrastructure development remains a key focus, with the Cabinet clearing the Road Construction Department's plan to build two high-level RCC bridges on NH-333A in Jamui district. The project includes a bridge over the Kuel river (Nariyana Ghat) costing Rs 93.82 crore and a second bridge over the Mangobandar-Suknar river with an allocation of Rs 55.96 crore.
The Chief Minister stated on X that these infrastructural upgrades are designed to enhance connectivity, streamline transportation, and accelerate economic activity across the region, further demonstrating the government's dedication to building resilient, modern infrastructure for the people of Bihar.
