Bihar Police Recruitment 2026: 48,447 New Vacancies for SI, Constable & Driver Posts
To bolster state security and manage population growth, the Bihar Government has sanctioned 48,447 new direct recruitment posts, including positions for Sub-Inspectors, Constables, and Driver Constables.
In a significant policy shift, the Bihar Government has reserved 50% of the newly sanctioned Police Sub-Inspector (SI) and equivalent roles for internal promotions. This strategic move is designed to modernize the state police force and address rising administrative demands effectively.
Official directives regarding these vacancies have been formally circulated to senior police leadership, district administration offices, and treasury departments across Bihar to ensure streamlined implementation and regulatory compliance.
Bihar Police 48,447 Vacancies Announced
According to the Home Department’s official order issued on 14 May 2026, the 20,937 sanctioned SI-level posts have been split evenly. Consequently, 10,469 positions are designated for departmental promotion, while 10,468 roles remain open for direct recruitment.
