Bihar Police SI Eligibility Criteria 2026: Age Limit, Qualification & Selection Process

• Educational Qualification – Required academic degree from a recognized university.
• Age Limit – Minimum and maximum age as per category with applicable relaxations.
• Nationality – Only Indian citizens are eligible.
• Physical Standards – Includes physical efficiency and standard tests.
• Number of Attempts – Guidelines on how many times a candidate can apply.
• Work Experience – Whether prior experience is required or advantageous

Educational Qualification

• A Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university is mandatory.
• The degree must be obtained on or before the last date of application.
• Final-year students awaiting results are not eligible, unless they can produce proof of graduation during document verification.
• Degrees from universities recognized by the UGC or other relevant authorities are valid.

Age Limit (as on 01.08.2026)

Important: Government-mandated age relaxations apply to specific categories. Applicants must provide valid, verified certificates to claim these benefits, as age criteria are subject to variation based on category and reservation policies.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

After successfully qualifying for the Mains Examination, candidates are shortlisted for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET). Performance in this stage is decisive, as it determines eligibility for subsequent phases. The PET rigorously evaluates a candidate's speed, stamina, and physical endurance through various activities, with distinct standards established for male and female applicants.

To qualify, candidates must complete all prescribed physical tasks within the designated time limits. Failure to meet these specific performance benchmarks will result in immediate disqualification from the recruitment drive.

Physical Standard Test (PST)

Following the PET, successful candidates must pass the Physical Standard Test (PST). While the PST is qualifying in nature and does not carry additional marks, it is a mandatory requirement to ensure all recruits possess the necessary physical attributes for police duty.

Additional Requirement for Female Candidates: A minimum body weight of 48 kg is mandatory across all categories.

Both the PET and PST are essential components of the selection process. Only candidates who successfully demonstrate the required physical fitness and endurance will be invited to participate in the document verification and medical examination stages.

Nationality

• Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply.
• Although not compulsory, Bihar domicile candidates may receive preference during selection.
• Proof of nationality (Aadhaar, Voter ID, Passport, etc.) will be required.

Number of Attempts

• BPSSC has not put a limit on the number of attempts.
• However, candidates can only appear as long as they are within the prescribed age limits.

Work Experience

• No prior work experience is mandatory.
• However, candidates with law enforcement, defense, or related field experience may find it beneficial during PET and interview rounds.
