BRO GREF Selection Process 2026
The BRO 2026 selection process consists of the following stages:
- Written Examination: Objective or subjective questions based on the specific trade and general knowledge.
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Usually involves a 1-mile run within a specific time frame. (Qualifying nature).
- Practical/Skill Test: Hands-on testing for trades like Electrician, OEM, and Typing.
- Medical Examination: Conducted by BRO medical officers to ensure fitness for GREF standards.

The BRO GREF recruitment features 899 openings distributed as follows: Draughtsman (42), Hindi Typist (10), Store Keeper Technical (300), Operator Communication (261), Operator Excavating Machinery (OEM) (207), and Electrician (79).
Eligibility is strictly limited to male Indian nationals.
The age limit for the BRO GREF exam is 18–27 years as of April 18, 2026. Age relaxations apply: 5 years for SC/ST (up to 32), 3 years for OBC (up to 30), and additional provisions for PwBD candidates.
Minimum qualifying marks for the written exam are 50% for UR, OBC, and EWS categories, and 40% for SC and ST categories.
The comprehensive selection process includes a Written Examination, Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Practical/Skill Test, and a Medical Examination.
