BRO Eligibility Criteria 2026

The BRO eligibility criteria are outlined below. Please review the mandatory educational qualifications and age requirements before applying.

Nationality

• A citizen of India, OR
• A person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India, OR
• A Gorkha of Indian domicile (must have a Permanent Residence Certificate)

Note: This recruitment is open to Indian National Males only; female candidates are not eligible to apply.

Education Qualification

NOTE: All educational qualifications and certificates must be acquired by the application closing date from a recognized institution. Candidates awaiting final results are not eligible to apply.

Physical Standards

• Candidates must qualify for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET).
• A 1.6 km run to be completed in 10 minutes.
• Candidates must meet the criteria of the Physical Standards mentioned below:

NOTE: PwBD, Ex-Servicemen (ESM), Ex-Agniveers, and departmental candidates are exempted from the Physical Efficiency Test (PET).

The BRO Recruitment 2026 application process commenced on 21 May 2026. Please note that there is no online application facility; forms must be submitted via post only. Completed applications, including all necessary documentation, must reach the Commandant, GREF Centre, Dighi Camp, Pune–411015 before the specified deadline.

How to Apply for BRO Recruitment 2026

The BRO GREF recruitment process is conducted entirely offline. Follow the official instructions carefully to ensure your application is submitted correctly.

• Visit the official website www.bro.gov.in & go to the “Recruitments” section.
• Download Advertisement No. 01/2026 and the Application Form PDF.
• Check required eligibility carefully before filling the form.
• Pay the application fee of ₹50/- (Gen/OBC/EWS) via the SBI Collect Portal at
• Print the application form on A4-size paper (single side only), and print the Admit Card on both sides of a single sheet.
• Fill the form in capital letters in English or Hindi. Paste a recent colour passport-size photograph at the prescribed place.
• Attach self-attested copies of the documents needed for the application.
• Send by Registered Post / Speed Post to: (Commandant, GREF Centre, Dighi Camp, Pune – 411015)
• Envelope must be written as “Application for the post of [Post Name] — Advertisement No. 01/2026”

NOTE: Dispatch your application well in advance to account for potential postal delays. Applications received after the deadline will be rejected.

BRO Application Fee 2026

Documents Required for Application Form

• A recent colour passport-size photograph pasted at the prescribed place on the application form and admit card
• Minimum 12 copies of the same photograph to be carried throughout the recruitment process.
• Left-hand thumb impression at the prescribed place on the application form and admit card
• Signature of the candidate at the prescribed place
• Copy of e-receipt of application fee paid via SBI Collect.
• Self-attested photostat copies of certificates for essential educational/technical qualifications (Matriculation onwards)
• Date of birth,
• Caste certificate (as per format in Appendix A/B), OBC NCL declaration (Appendix D), EWS certificate (Appendix C),
• Disability Certificate (Appendix E for PwBD)
• Experience certificate (if applicable),
• Driving Licence copy (for OEM post)
• NCC certificate copies (B or C grade), sports certificate, or relationship certificate for Sons of Serving/Ex-GREF personnel
• Proof of residence/domicile (for the correct physical standards region)
• Any certificate in a language other than Hindi or English must be enclosed with an attested Hindi/English translation by a Group A Gazetted Officer.

BRO GREF Selection Process 2026

The selection process for BRO Recruitment 2026 consists of the following stages:

• Written Examination: Objective or subjective questions based on the specific trade and general knowledge.
• Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Usually involves a 1-mile run within a specific time frame. (Qualifying nature).
• Practical/Skill Test: Hands-on testing for trades like Electrician, OEM, and Typing.
• Medical Examination: Conducted by BRO medical officers to ensure fitness for GREF standards.
