According to the official notification, approximately 250 fellowships will be awarded, subject to funding and DHR guidelines. The DHR-BRET 2025 is a premier opportunity for researchers to launch their careers with a prestigious JRF. Successful candidates must qualify for the test and secure a placement within recognized institutions, including Medical Colleges, Universities, National Laboratories, or ICMR-affiliated centers, under the following categories:

  • UGC/INI: Pursuit of a doctoral degree at UGC-recognized universities/research institutionsor Institutes of National Importance in India.
  • ICMR–AcSIR: Pursuit of a doctoral degree at any of the 27 ICMR Institutes/Centres withPh.D. registration under the AcSIR-ICMR Faculty of Medical Research.

DHR BRET Application Fees 2025

DHR BRET Eligbility Criteria 2025

Candidates intending to appear for the DHR Biomedical Research Eligibility Test 2025 must ensure they meet the specific eligibility criteria outlined below.

Age Limit

The age limit for this eligibility test is 35 years as of 21 November 2025. Standard age relaxation policies apply to eligible reserved categories.

Educational Qualification

A minimum aggregate of 55% marks in the PG examination is required for General, EWS, and OBC candidates, while SC, ST, and PwBD candidates must secure at least 50% marks to qualify.

Candidates currently in the final year of their PG program (2025 session) may apply under the 'Result Awaited' (RA) category. These applicants must provide an attestation form (Appendix E) duly signed and stamped by the Head of their Department or Institution.

Provisional permission to appear for the test will be granted to RA candidates. However, they will only be considered for the JRF award upon successful submission of their final Master’s degree results, proving they have met the requisite percentage criteria.

DHR BRET Exam Pattern 2025

  • The DHR BRET Exam will be conducted in an Online Computer Based Test (CBT) format.
  • The exam will be conducted in the English language only.
  • The exam will consist of 150 multiple-choice-questions (MCQs).
  • 1 mark will be awarded for each correct answer.
  • –0.25 mark will be deducted for each incorrect response.

DHR BRET Selection Process 2025

The DHR BRET 2025 selection process is designed to identify highly qualified candidates for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). Key aspects of this process include:
