Steps to Apply for GGU PhD Admission 2025

  1. Visit the Samarth Portal through the official website www.ggu.ac.in and click on the Ph.D. Admission 2025-26 link.
  2. Register as a New User by entering basic details and verifying your email/mobile number.
  3. Login to the Portal using your registered credentials.
  4. Fill in the Online Application Form carefully with academic, personal, and category-related information.
  5. Upload Required Documents such as photographs, signatures, certificates, and eligibility proofs in the prescribed format.
  6. Select Your Category (VRET / VRET Exempted) and choose the desired subject/department.

GGU PhD Fellowship

Full-time Ph.D. scholars admitted via VRET (who are not receiving other financial aid) are eligible for a Non-NET fellowship of Rs. 8,000 per month, supplemented by an annual contingency grant of Rs. 10,000 (Science/Engineering) or Rs. 8,000 (Humanities/Social Sciences), subject to UGC guidelines. Please note that this fellowship is not an automatic right and may be withheld in cases of documented indiscipline.

VRET Exempted candidates are generally ineligible for certain support unless they qualify the post-admission VRET, after which the fellowship commences from the result announcement date; they must provide a formal undertaking during the interview. Scholars in AICTE-recognized departments may qualify for the ADF 2025-26 scheme, subject to eligibility criteria and AICTE approval.

  • Degree must be from recognized/accredited institution.

Candidates who are exempted from the VRET entrance examination include:

  • Employees (regular/temporary/adhoc) of GGU or other institutions with valid NOC.
  • International applicants with equivalent qualifications.
  • Candidates with UGC-NET/JRF/CSIR-NET/GATE/CEED or those eligible under UGC fellowship categories (Category I, II, III) as per latest UGC notifications.

GGU PhD Admission Process

GGU maintains a transparent, merit-based Ph.D. admission process. Admissions are conducted through two primary streams, each with specific requirements for documentation and entrance qualifications.

Admission process 1.Entrance Test (VRET)
  • The VRET is a 100-mark objective-type examination consisting of 100 MCQs.
  • Duration: 120 minutes.
  • Syllabus: 50% Research Methodology + 50% Subject-specific content.
  • Qualifying Marks: 50% (with 5% relaxation for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/Differently-Abled).
  • Candidates scoring above the qualifying marks are shortlisted based on merit and the number of available Ph.D. seats.

2. Interview and Viva-Voce Assessment:

  • Shortlisted candidates appear for a personal interview/viva-voce to assess research aptitude.

3. Final Merit Calculation (VRET Stream):

  • 70% – Marks obtained in VRET
  • 30% – Interview/Viva-Voce/Presentation
