IBPS PO Eligibility Criteria 2026
Candidates must verify that they meet all eligibility requirements mandated by IBPS. Failure to comply with these criteria will result in immediate disqualification. Detailed eligibility guidelines are outlined below:
Nationality
To be eligible for the examination, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- A Citizen of India
- The subject of Nepal or Bhutan
- A Tibetan refugee who permanently settled in India before January 1, 1962
- A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Burma, Vietnam, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania, Zaire, or Zambia, intending to reside in India permanently.
Educational Qualification
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a government-recognized university or an equivalent institution approved by the Government of India.
- Applicants must possess a valid mark sheet or degree certificate proving their graduate status on the day of registration and must provide the percentage of marks obtained in their graduation while registering for the IBPS Bank-PO exam.
Computer Literacy:
Working knowledge of computer systems is mandatory, both for daily professional tasks and for navigating the online interface of the IBPS PO examination.

There is no limit on the number of attempts for the IBPS PO Exam, provided that candidates continue to satisfy the age criteria and other essential eligibility requirements.
IBPS PO Selection Process 2026
The IBPS PO recruitment process comprises three distinct phases:
Stage 1: Preliminary Examination
Candidates must clear both sectional and overall cutoff scores to qualify for the Main Examination.
Stage 2: Main Examination

IBPS PO Personality Test + Interview (Final Stage)
The Personality Test is designed to evaluate behavioral traits, leadership potential, communication efficacy, and overall suitability for a banking career.
Qualifiers of the Personality Test proceed to the 100-mark interview round. Final selection scores are calculated using a weighted ratio of 80:20 between the Main Examination and the Interview.
