MPSC Cancels Drug Inspector Recruitment Due to Malpractice
The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has officially announced the complete cancellation of the recruitment process for Drug Inspector, Group-B posts under the Food and Drug Administration Department. This major decision comes in the wake of mounting complaints concerning malpractice and paper leaks during the screening examination.
Investigation Findings and Timeline of Events
The screening test in question was conducted earlier on 22 March 2026, with the official results subsequently declared on 12 June 2026. Following the results, a total of 506 candidates were shortlisted for further evaluation, out of which 488 aspirants appeared for interviews held between 1 July and 22 July 2026. A provisional merit list had also been released prior to the intervention.
However, following rigorous grievances and complaints, a preliminary inquiry was initiated by the Mumbai Police. The investigation uncovered concrete prima facie evidence indicating malpractice, specifically revealing that at least one candidate had gained unauthorized access to the confidential question paper prior to the commencement of the exam. In response to these findings, the commission took swift action to scrap the entire cycle to maintain absolute fairness and integrity.
What Next for Aspirants? Fresh Re-Examination Process
To ensure a fair playing field for all eligible aspirants, the MPSC has declared that it will conduct a brand-new screening examination. The commission will announce the revised exam dates through an official notification separately.
Providing significant relief to past applicants, authorities have confirmed that candidates who applied earlier do not need to submit a fresh application or pay another examination fee for the upcoming re-examination process.
