Admissions are conducted biannually through a rigorous merit-based process. For Scheme I (Institute Fellowship) and Scheme II (Self-sponsored), candidates are evaluated based on their performance in a national-level PhD entrance examination followed by a mandatory interview at NIT Calicut.
Scheme I (Institute Fellowship) & Scheme II (Self-Sponsored) Selection:
- Candidates must qualify the National-level PhD Entrance Examination conducted by NIT Calicut (held at NIT Calicut campus), followed by an Interview by the respective department/centre.
- PhD seats under Scheme I are limited. Once fellowships are exhausted, remaining candidates in the rank list will be offered admission under Scheme II (if preference indicated).
Scheme I (Govt. Fellowship holders like CSIR-UGC JRF/KSCSTE): Candidates qualifying for external fellowships are selected based on a departmental written test and/or a personal interview.
