PSTET Eligibility Criteria 2026 For Papers 1 & 2

The authorities have officially published the PSTET 2026 eligibility criteria for both Primary and Upper Primary teaching positions. Detailed guidelines and specific educational requirements are outlined in the table below.

Paper Educational Qualification
PSTET Paper 1: Class I to V (Primary)
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education/4- a year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)/2- a year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
  • Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2- a year Diploma in Elementary Education, in accordance with the NCTE.
  • Candidates who possessed “Graduation with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed)” are now eligible for becoming Teachers for Classes I-V: Primary Stage. Such Candidates has mandatory to undergo a six-month Bridge Course in Elementary Education recognized by the NCTE, within two years of such appointment as a primary teacher.
PSTET Paper 2: Class VI to VIII (Upper Primary)
  • Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education/ 1- year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed)/B.Ed. (Special Education).
  • Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), per the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure).
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4- year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)/4- year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.
  • Any candidate having qualified B.Ed Programme recognized by the NCTE is eligible to appear in TET exam.
