SBI PO Exam Stages 2026

The recruitment follows three distinct stages: two computer-based objective/descriptive tests (Prelims and Mains) and a concluding interview. Explore the stage-wise exam pattern to streamline your preparation.

Stage 1: SBI PO Prelims Exam Pattern 

  1. This is the first round of the SBI PO Exam.
  2. This will have 3 sections, and each section will have to be completed in 20 Minutes.
  3. The total marks of the SBI PO Prelims Exam are 100 Marks while the duration of the exam is 1 Hour.
  4. One (1) mark is awarded for every correct answer.
  5. There will be a penalty of 0.25 Marks for every incorrect answer marked by the candidate.
  6. All the questions will be set bilingually i.e. in English and Hindi, except the English Language.

Stage 2: SBI PO Mains Exam Pattern (Revised)

Key highlights of the SBI PO Main Examination include the following:

  1. All the questions will be objective.
  2. This main paper will have four sections for a total of 200 marks.
  3. The duration of the SBI PO Mains Exam will be 3 hours.
  4. The objective test will have separate timing for each section.
  5. There will be no sectional cut-off in Prelims, but there is a sectional cut-off in the Mains exam.
  6. There will be a penalty of 0.25 marks for every incorrect multiple-choice question.

The Descriptive Test carries 30 marks and is conducted over 30 minutes. This section is specifically designed to evaluate your communication and writing proficiency through targeted Essay and Letter writing tasks.
