UP Home Guard Selection Process 2026

The UP Home Guard Exam 2026 is structured to ensure a fair, transparent, and merit-based selection. Each stage assesses key competencies, including physical fitness, subject-matter knowledge, and overall readiness for the role. The selection process typically includes:

Written Examination

  • The written exam will carry 100 marks and will be of 2 hours duration.
  • The exam will be objective-type (multiple-choice).
  • The written paper will test General Knowledge and related subjects.
  • The syllabus and question distribution will be finalised by the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB).

Preparation of Merit List

  • The merit list will be prepared based on marks obtained in the written exam and additional marks for preference qualifications such as NCC, Scout & Guide certificates, Disaster Management training, or a valid driving license.
  • Candidates will be shortlisted district-wise based on reservation norms and the number of available vacancies.

Document Verification and Physical Standards Test (PST)

Candidates who successfully clear the written merit list will proceed to document verification and a mandatory physical standards assessment.
