What is SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average)?
SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average) is the standardized metric used across universities, technical institutes, and autonomous colleges in India to measure a student's academic performance in a single semester term (typically 6 months).
Under the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) mandated by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), courses are assigned credit hours based on weekly lecture, tutorial, and laboratory workloads. The semester SGPA is computed as the credit-weighted average of the grade points earned in all courses enrolled during that term.
