Eligibility Criteria

1. Educational & Professional Qualifications

  • Academic: You must have passed the Senior Secondary Part-II Examination with Science or its equivalent from a recognized university or institution.
  • Professional: You must possess a Diploma in Pharmacy, a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm), or a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm-D) from a recognized university or institution. Candidates with higher qualifications in the same discipline are also eligible.
  • Registration: You must be registered as a Pharmacist with the Punjab Pharmacy Council under the Pharmacy Act, 1948. All qualifications and registration must be completed prior to the last date of filling applications.

2. Nationality

  • You must be a citizen of India, a citizen of Nepal, a subject of Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, for permanent settlement.
  • Persons of Indian origin migrated from specific countries (like Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African nations, etc.) with the intention of permanently settling are also eligible, provided they hold a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of Punjab.

3. Mandatory Punjabi Language Requirement

  • Matriculation Standard: You must have passed the Matriculation examination with Punjabi as a compulsory or elective subject, or an equivalent examination.
  • Note: Certain exemptions apply to War Heroes discharged due to disability (and their dependents), while wards of defense personnel who are residents of Punjab get a 2-year window after appointment to clear this requirement.

Selection Process

The selection process consists of a 100-mark evaluation: a 90-mark written examination combined with 10 marks awarded for qualified COVID-19 pandemic service.

1. Punjabi Language Qualifying Test

  • Candidates must pass a Punjabi language test of Matriculation standard.
  • A minimum of 50% marks is required.
  • Failure to qualify will result in disqualification, irrespective of performance in the written exam.

2. Competitive Written Examination (90 Marks)

  • Candidates must secure at least 33% marks to be considered for the merit list.

3. Experience Weightage (10 Marks)

The 10 bonus marks are designated for medical and para-medical professionals who served in contractual or outsourced roles during the COVID-19 pandemic (March 2020–June 2021).

  • 5 marks: Service of less than 1 year.
  • 10 marks: Service of 1 year or more.

To claim experience credit, documentation must specify the exact designation held and be verified by the relevant institution head. Please note that additional qualifications do not provide extra scoring weight.

4. Merit List & Tie-Breaking

  • Final merit is prepared based on written exam marks (90) + experience weightage (10).
  • In case of a tie, preference is given to the older candidate.

5. Document Verification

The final appointment is contingent upon successful counselling, document verification, a clear Police Verification Certificate, and an NOC for existing government employees.

Salary

Successful candidates will be recruited with a starting basic salary of Rs. 29,200 (Pay Level 5, 7th CPC). Employees will also receive standard Punjab Government allowances, with salary growth expected via annual increments and future pay revisions.
