Condition to Appear in CBSE 10th Second Board Examinations

The CBSE has established several mandatory conditions for students participating in the Class 10 Phase 2 examinations. Please review the criteria listed below carefully.

(a). It is strictly mandatory for all candidates to have appeared in the first Board examination.

(b). All eligible students may attempt to improve their scores in up to three subjects, including Science, Mathematics, Social Science, and Language papers.

(c). Students who failed to appear in three or more subjects during the first examination are ineligible for the Phase 2 exams. These students must re-appear in the main examination cycle the following February and are not permitted to submit an LOC for Phase 2.

(d). Candidates whose results in the primary examination indicate a 'Compartment' status are permitted to take the second exam under the Compartment Category.

(e). No new candidate registrations will be accepted for the Phase 2 LOC.

(f). Subject changes are strictly prohibited between the first and second examinations, with the sole exception of permitted Mathematics-level changes.

(g). No corrections to student data are permitted between examination phases. Furthermore, (h) only candidates registered as CWSN in the first examination may receive CWSN-specific facilities; new CWSN registrations are not allowed for the Phase 2 boards.

Eligibility for CBSE Phase 2 Board Exam 2026

Before proceeding, candidates should verify their eligibility for the CBSE Phase 2 exams to ensure they meet all necessary academic requirements.

  • Students must have appeared in the first board examination
  • Improvement is allowed in a maximum of three subjects (Maths, Science, Social Science or Language)
  • Students who missed 3 or more subjects in the first exam are not eligible
  • Changing subject is not allowed except in special cases Maths
  • No correction in student details will be accepted after submission
  • Facilities for (Children with Special Needs) will continue only for those already registered
  • Students who have passed Class 10 and wants to improve their marks
  • Students placed in compartment category
  • Students appearing for first or third chance compartment exam
  • Students improving marks after passing with 6th subject replacement
  • Students under UFM Category 1, if eligible
  • Sports students who have prior approval from CBSE

1) Students absent in 3 or more subjects are ineligible.

2) Students marked as 'Essential Repeat' (ER) are not eligible to participate.
