HAL Selection Process 2026
The selection process for HAL Management and Design Trainees consists of two primary stages: a Computer-Based Test (CBT) followed by a personal interview. Candidates who qualify in the online examination will be shortlisted based on discipline and category for interviews held in Bengaluru.

Online Selection Test
The test will be conducted online on an all-India basis. It will have 160 objective questions and a duration of 2 hours 30 minutes.
Test Pattern
General Awareness: 20 questions; English and Reasoning: 40 questions; Concerned Discipline: 100 questions.
Language
Candidates may attempt the test in Hindi or English. The chosen language cannot be changed later.
Interview Shortlisting
Candidates will be shortlisted in a 1:5 ratio against the vacancies in each discipline and category, based on online test merit.
Personal Interview
Shortlisted candidates will appear for the interview at Bengaluru.
Final Merit List
The final selection list will be prepared with 85% weightage for the online test and 15% weightage for the interview.
Qualifying Marks
Candidates must obtain at least 50% marks separately in the online test and interview. Relaxation for reserved categories will apply as per rules.
Medical Examination
Provisionally selected candidates must clear HAL’s pre-employment medical examination before appointment.
