India GDS Selection Process 2026

The selection criteria for GDS, ABPM, and BPM roles remains strictly based on 10th-grade merit scores.

India Post GDS Joining Process 2026

Following the release of the merit list, shortlisted candidates will be contacted by their respective Divisional or Unit Heads for essential document verification. Upon successful validation, the system will issue a provisional engagement letter.

Shortlisted individuals must complete all mandatory pre-engagement formalities within 30 days of receiving the offer. Final appointment orders for the Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) position are issued only after the verification reports are confirmed as satisfactory.

India Post GDS Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must ensure they meet all eligibility requirements, including specific age limits, educational qualifications, and local language proficiency as defined in the official notification.

Educational Qualification

  • Must have passed Class 10 from a recognised board.
  • Mathematics and English should be studied as compulsory/elective subjects.
  • Must have studied the local language up to Class 10 and be able to read, write, and speak it.
  • Basic computer knowledge is required.
  • The ability to ride a bicycle is mandatory (unless exempted by a competent authority).
  • Candidates should have adequate means of livelihood

Age Relaxation:

  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC: 3 years
