The recruitment for GDS, ABPM, and BPM positions is strictly based on Class 10th examination scores.

India Post GDS Joining Process 2026
Once the GDS Merit List 2026 is officially released, shortlisted candidates will be notified by their respective Divisional or Unit Head for document verification. Following successful verification, a provisional engagement letter will be issued.
Candidates must complete all pre-engagement formalities within 30 days of receiving their offer. Once all records are validated, a final engagement order is issued, formalizing the appointment as a Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS).
India Post GDS Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, applicants must adhere to the criteria regarding educational qualifications, age limits, and mandatory local language proficiency as outlined in the official notification.
Educational Qualification
- Must have passed Class 10 from a recognised board.
- Mathematics and English should be studied as compulsory/elective subjects.
- Must have studied the local language up to Class 10 and be able to read, write, and speak it.
- Basic computer knowledge is required.
- The ability to ride a bicycle is mandatory (unless exempted by a competent authority).
- Candidates should have adequate means of livelihood
