JMI PhD Selection Process

The selection process for JMI PhD Admission 2025-26 involves several rigorous stages to ensure transparency and uphold high academic standards.

1. Entrance Test

• Conducted by the Controller of Examinations, the entrance exam will serve as a qualifying test for non-exempted candidates.
• It consists of two papers i.e. Paper I (Research Methodology, 100 objective questions, 2 hours) and Paper II (Subject-specific, 3 hours).
• Candidates must score at least 50% marks in aggregate across both papers to qualify for the interview.

2. Exemption from Entrance Test

Candidates who have successfully cleared national-level examinations such as UGC/CSIR-NET/JRF, AYUSH-NET, or GATE are exempted from the written test. Such candidates must proceed directly to the departmental interview stage.

3. Interview and Research Proposal

• Shortlisted candidates (including exempted ones) will be invited for an interview between 10 to 19 December 2025.
• During the interview, applicants will present their research proposal, demonstrate their research aptitude, and discuss potential areas of study.
• To qualify, candidates must secure a minimum of 40% marks in the interview.

4. Final Selection

The final merit list will be determined by performance in the entrance examination and the personal interview, in addition to seat availability and supervisor capacity. The results are scheduled to be published on the university website on December 22, 2025.
