RRB JE CBT-2 Exam Pattern & Technical Streams
Computer-Based Test 2 (CBT-2) evaluates candidates across multiple non-technical modules and specialized engineering streams. It features 150 total questions and marks, with a duration of 120 minutes (2 hours) and a negative marking of 1/3 mark (0.33) per wrong answer.
There are two main stages — CBT-1 and CBT-2. CBT-1 is a qualifying exam, and only those who clear it are eligible for CBT-2. The marks of CBT-2 are considered for the final merit list.
The Technical Ability section carries 100 marks and is the deciding factor in the final selection. Its syllabus and weightage vary based on the candidate’s branch — Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Science.
The common subjects for all branches in CBT-2 are General Awareness, Physics & Chemistry, Basics of Computer Applications, and Basics of Environment & Pollution Control, together carrying 50 marks.
Yes, there is negative marking in both CBT-1 and CBT-2 exams. A deduction of 1/3 mark (0.33) is applied for every incorrect answer.
