Eligible candidates include citizens of India, subjects of Bhutan or Nepal, Tibetan refugees settled in India, and individuals of Indian origin who have migrated from designated countries with the intent to permanently settle.
The prescribed age limits are 18 to 33 years for Undergraduate-level posts and 18 to 36 years for Graduate-level posts, subject to category-specific adjustments.

Some positions also mandate typing proficiency.
Medical standards (A-2, A-3, B-2, and C-2) are strictly enforced and involve rigorous testing of distant and near vision, as well as evaluations for color, binocular, night, and myopic vision.
Candidates who have undergone LASIK surgery are generally ineligible for posts requiring A1, A2, or A3 medical standards. Refer to Annexure VIII for specific conditions regarding B1 and B2 medical standards eligibility.
Only candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) or Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities are eligible for the 'Free Travel Authority' (free sleeper class railway pass) for examination appearances.
