Tier 1 serves as the primary qualifying stage, carrying a maximum of 200 marks.

  • The exam is divided into four sections. Each section has 25 questions for 50 marks and now carries its own 15-minute sectional timer.
  • You will get 60 minutes to complete the entire paper. Candidates who need a scribe will be given 1 hour 20 minutes.
  • There is a negative marking of 0.50 marks for every wrong answer. So be careful while guessing.

SSC CGL Tier 2 Typing Speed Test Syllabus

​The typing assessment in the SSC CGL exam is officially recognized as the Data Entry Speed Test (DEST). While mandatory for all candidates, it is purely  qualifying in nature.

Candidates are tasked with typing a passage of roughly 2000 key depressions within a 15-minute window. Proficiency and speed are key. PwBD candidates in the OH category may seek exemption by providing a valid medical certificate from a Government Civil Surgeon.

Eligible scribe users receive an additional 5 minutes for the DEST. Visually impaired candidates utilizing a scribe during the written test are also provided with a passage reader.

SSC CGL Tie Resolution Process

In the event of a tie in scores during the SSC CGL Tier-II examination, the Commission employs standard resolution criteria to determine final rankings.
