Eligibility Criteria: Who Can Apply?

To shortlist candidates, the UPSC will conduct a pen-and-paper combined recruitment test (CRT) on November 1, 2026. Important details are outlined below:

  • Type: Objective, multiple-choice questions
  • Medium: English and Hindi
  • Maximum marks: 300
  • Negative marking: 1/3rd mark deducted per wrong answer; no penalty for unattempted questions

UPSC Principal and Vice Principal Syllabus

The syllabus encompasses General Knowledge (social/economic/cultural focus), proficiency in Hindi and English, Quantitative Aptitude & Reasoning, Educational Policy, Management & Financial Administration, Office Procedures, Pedagogy, and Digital Literacy.

Selection Process 2026

  • Personal Interview—carrying 25% weightage, out of 100 marks.
  • Minimum qualifying marks: 50 for General/EWS, 45 for OBC, and 40 for SC/ST/PwBD.
  • Document Verification—of educational qualifications, experience, category certificates, and other claims made in the application.
