SSC CHSL 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates should thoroughly review the educational qualifications, age limits, and physical standards before applying. All applicants must meet the strict eligibility criteria mandated by the Commission for the SSC CHSL 2026 cycle.
Nationality
Candidates must meet the following citizenship and age requirements:
- a citizen of India, or
- a subject of Nepal, or
- a subject of Bhutan, or
- a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania(Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam to permanently settle in India.
Educational Qualification
Educational requirements depend on the specific post applied for. Please refer to the official notification for post-specific qualification mandates.
- For Data Entry Operator (DEO) / DEO Grade ‘A’ in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Ministry of Culture, and SSC: Candidates must have passed 12th Standard (Science stream) with Mathematics from a recognized board or an equivalent qualification.
- For LDC / JSA and DEO / DEO Grade ‘A’ (except the DEO posts mentioned above): Candidates must have passed 12th Standard or an equivalent exam from a recognized Board or University.
- Candidates who are currently appearing in their 12th Standard or equivalent exam can also apply. However, they must have the required qualification by the cut-off date.

- The age of candidates must be between 18 to 27 years.

SSC CHSL 2026 Selection Process
The multi-stage selection process includes Tier 1, Tier 2, and a mandatory Skill Test/Computer Proficiency Test for relevant posts. The final merit list is prepared based on the cumulative performance across these tiers.
